COMPANY OVERVIEW
EVA (Enteral Ventilation) is a novel oxygen-delivery technology that administers oxygenated perfluorodecalin (O₂-PFD) into the colon. PFD carries large amounts of oxygen while remaining outside the bloodstream. Oxygen is absorbed through the intestinal mucosa, providing both systemic and local oxygenation. EVA is being developed as a new therapeutic platform for respiratory failure, including neonatal respiratory distress, as well as for diseases associated with local tissue hypoxia, such as inflammatory bowel disease and liver injury.
SOLUTION
EVA has the potential to provide a new, minimally invasive option for patients who cannot receive sufficient oxygen through the lungs alone. By delivering oxygen through the intestine, EVA may complement existing respiratory support, reduce the burden of mechanical ventilation, and bridge critically ill patients before escalation to ECMO. Beyond respiratory failure, local intestinal oxygenation may offer new treatment opportunities for inflammatory bowel disease and liver injury, addressing significant unmet medical needs across multiple diseases.
ORIGINALITY
EVA (Enteral Ventilation) is a first-in-class approach that delivers oxygen through the intestine using oxygenated perfluorodecalin (O₂-PFD), enabling both systemic and local oxygenation without PFD entering the bloodstream. Unlike conventional respiratory support, EVA utilizes the intestine as an alternative route for oxygen delivery. The originality of this concept and its therapeutic applications are protected by granted patents. This strong intellectual property position supports the development of EVA as a novel therapeutic platform for respiratory failure and diseases associated with local tissue hypoxia.
VISION
By 2030, we aim to establish EVA as a new therapeutic platform that delivers oxygen through the intestine. Building on clinical proof-of-concept in Japan, we plan to advance development for neonatal and acute respiratory failure, while expanding into local hypoxia-related diseases such as IBD and liver injury. In parallel, we will accelerate global development, particularly in the United States, through strategic partnerships and regulatory engagement, with the goal of bringing this innovative Japanese technology to patients worldwide.
