Fusion energy will only become real for society once the underlying engineering is solved — regardless of which reactor design wins. Kyoto Fusioneering builds these foundational technologies: the systems every commercial fusion plant needs, independent of fusion approach. We engineer the critical equipment the entire industry relies on — gyrotron heating systems, thermal cycle systems to generate electricity, tritium fuel cycle systems, and fusion breeding blankets.

Our UNITY™ Program is the world’s most advanced staged validation platform for these systems. UNITY-1 (operational) tests integrated blanket and power generation. UNITY-2 (commissioning stage in 2026; built with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories via Fusion Fuel Cycles Inc.) will be the first facility to demonstrate a continuous, end-to-end tritium fuel cycle. UNITY-3 (in conceptual design; built with Oak Ridge National Laboratory) will validate breeding blanket performance under prototypic fusion nuclear conditions.

Kyoto Fusioneering’s mission is to mobilize Japan’s world-class manufacturing strength and deliver it globally through essential fusion engineering solutions. Our latest funding round is fueling exactly that: expanding our 3 UNITY programs across Japan, Canada, and the US, and building the supply chain that every commercial fusion plant will depend on. With this momentum, we’re accelerating the technology development needed to create an entirely new global market for fusion energy — and carry it from the lab into society.
